Protect Your Investment with Proper Gear Care

At Fighter Club 17, we know high-quality boxing gear comes at a price – and with proper care, it doesn't have to be replaced often. Proper maintenance extends the life of your equipment, keeps it hygienic, and ensures it performs optimally in every training session.

Boxing Glove Care

After Every Workout

  • Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth or antibacterial wipe
  • Open Velcro straps and leave gloves open to air out
  • Never leave gloves in your gym bag – bacteria thrive in dark, damp environments

Deep Cleaning

  • Mix water with a bit of white vinegar or mild soap
  • Wipe down thoroughly inside and out
  • Air dry completely – never use a dryer or direct heat

Odor Prevention

  • Use cedar inserts or glove deodorizers
  • Sprinkle baking soda inside and shake out after a few hours
  • Always use hand wraps to absorb sweat before it reaches the glove lining

Hand Wrap Care

Wash hand wraps after every training session. Use a mesh laundry bag to prevent tangling in the washing machine. Air dry completely before rolling up and storing.

Headguard and Shin Guard Care

  • Wipe down with antibacterial spray after every use
  • Regularly check straps and Velcro for wear and tear
  • Store in a ventilated area, not crammed into a bag

Punching Bag Maintenance

  • Condition leather bags monthly with a leather conditioner
  • Check chains and swivels for rust or wear
  • Rotate the bag regularly to ensure even wear
  • Check the filling – if it feels hard or lumpy, it may need redistributing

General Storage Tips

  • Store all gear in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area
  • Use a ventilated gym bag – avoid sealed bags that trap moisture
  • Keep gear out of direct sunlight to prevent leather cracking
